The Toyota Prius V was unveiled at the 2011 Detroit Motor Show alongside the Prius C concept. The Prius V is 60% larger than the standard prius offering much more storage, legroom and head height. This extra space does have an effect on the fuel economy 5.9 l/100km (40mpg) to the 3.9 l/100km that the standard prius hatch manages. The engine is the same 1.8 litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine as used in the prius hatch with power listed at 73kW and 142Nm.

The Prius V has several technical advancements including Toyota's new Toyota Entune Multimedia System and a panoramic sunroof made of lightweight-resin, 40% lighter than a glass roof of the same size. [1]
