Shrine Shintoists are a major category of Japanese Shintoists. Their houses of worship are Shinto shrines. Most shrines are members of the Association of Shinto Shrines.[1] Another major Shinto group is Sectarian Shinto, which is far younger than Shrine Shinto.[2] Until 1945, State Shinto belonged to Shrine Shinto.[3] Some Shrine Shintoists also are Buddhists.
