Kashif Mehmood is a Pakistani actor who has helped to change the cinema in Pakistan, leading the revival of cinema in Pakistan through his confident and impressive acting in various difficult roles in Pakistan. He has teamed up with director Humayun Saeed to being in many films and dramas in Pakistan. He is admired for his role as the transvestite Babar in the Pakistani drama Moorat, directed by Humayun Saeed. Kashif Mehmood has played a high role in the revival of Pakistani dramas and media, making him a very important contributor to the world of Pakistani cinema. He is continually increasing in terms of popularity and fame, and intends to work in many more dramas and cinema productions in the future.
Early Life and Work
He started his acting career in 93, working in stage plays. He was offered minor roles in TV plays. Breakthrough came when he was offered Muuno Bhai’s Zaroorat. It was his first play. After that he produced and acted in Ashiana and worked with senior directors and actors, although he didn’t get expected monetary returns but got a lot of fame from that as an actor. Ashiana was his first production and turned out to be successful. He says people still recognize him as Saif from Ashiana.
Kashif owns a production academy with the name ‘Ashiana Friends’, and his aim is to bring up talented youngsters into the field of production. When asked why he opened the production academy. He states:
Our youth has a lot of hidden talent in them but they don’t get opportunities to utilize their talent. When I came into production, I had to face a lot of problems and I don’t want youth to suffer from all this.
