North Temple Bridge/Guadalupe is a light rail and commuter rail station in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States served by the Green Line of Utah Transit Authority's (UTA) TRAX light rail system and by FrontRunner, UTA's commuter rail that operates along the Wasatch Front from Pleasant View in northern Weber County through Ogden, Davis County, Salt Lake City, and Salt Lake County to Provo in central Utah County. The Green Line provides service from the Salt Lake City International Airport to West Valley City (via Downtown Salt Lake City). Although the official name of the station is North Temple Bridge/Guadalupe, it often referenced by UTA as simply North Temple.[1][3]
Description
North Temple Bridge/Guadalupe's parking lot[Note 1] can easily be accessed from 300 North at 500 West (both from the east and west), but is also accessible from 200 North on the east and from 500 West on the south. There is no direct vehicle access to the TRAX platform (as there is no stopping allowed on the North Temple Street Viaduct), but pedestrians can easily access it using the stairs or escalators that connect north side of the North Temple Street Viaduct with the south end of the FrontRunner platform. Pedestrians can also access the TRAX platform from either end of the North Temple Street Viaduct at 400 West or 600 West. Although both platforms are considered "at grade", the station is still considered a flying junction since the TRAX tracks pass over the FrontRunner and Union Pacific tracks. Just east of the station is West High School and south of the station is the Gateway District, including the Union Pacific Depot. The station is located within the Quiet Zone, so trains do not routinely sound their horns when approaching public crossings within this corridor.[4]
The TRAX portion of the station is part of the Airport extension. The FrontRunner portion is an infill station created to connect the Green Line to FrontRunner after the Green Line was routed away from Salt Lake Central as part of the Airport Extension. Although not part of FrontRunner South, the FrontRunner portion of the station opened on the same date as that extension, 10 December 2012. The station is operated by Utah Transit Authority.
All of UTA's TRAX and FrontRunner trains and stations, as well as all fixed route buses, are compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act and are therefore accessible to those with disabilities.[5] Since not all FrontRunner passenger cars are wheelchair accessible, signage at the stations, on the passenger platforms, and on the passenger cars clearly indicate accessibility options. In addition, each train has one or more Train Hosts available to provide assistance as may be needed, including the placement of ramps for wheelchair boarding.[6] In accordance with the Utah Clean Air Act and UTA ordinance, "smoking is prohibited on UTA vehicles as well as UTA bus stops, TRAX stations, and FrontRunner stations".[7]
FrontRunner
FrontRunner has about twenty-three round trips on weekdays between Ogden and Provo (through Salt Lake City) and about five more round trips between Ogden and Downtown Salt Lake City. On Saturdays there are only nineteen round trips between Odgen and Provo. Trains run hourly from about 4:30 am to just after midnight on weekdays (increasing to half hour runs for the morning and evening commutes). Saturdays have hourly runs from about 6:00 am to 2:30 am the next morning. There is currently no FrontRunner service on Sundays. Each weekday there is service to Pleasant View with two trains picking up passengers (no dropping off) in the morning and two more trains picking up and dropping off passengers in the evening for the commute.[8]
Train schedules[Note 3]
On weekdays the first northbound FrontRunner train (to Ogden Intermodal Transit Center) leaves North Temple Bridge/Guadalupe Station at about 4:30 am and the first southbound train (to [[Provo (UTA station)|Provo Station) leaves at about 5:00 am, with the last northbound and southbound trains both leaving at 11:45 pm. On Saturdays the first southbound train leaves at about 6:00 am and the first northbound train leaves at about 7:00 am, with the last northbound and southbound trains leaving just after midnight.Cite error: A <ref>

Bus connections[Note 4]
Note: Buses stop at the north end of the station's parking lot on 200 North. Although many bus routes pass the TRAX platform as they cross over the North Temple Viaduct, there are no bus stops on, or at either end of, the viaduct.

Notes
- ^ a b A Park and Ride Lot has been constructed at North Temple Bridge/Guadalupe Bridge Station. However, as of June 2013, it is still not open for use, nor has UTA provided an indication as to when the lot will be opened, other than "coming soon".
- ^ Recently UTA announced that beginning 1 July 2013 it will start a one year pilot program involving most of its TRAX and FrontRunner Park and Ride lots. The purpose of the new program is to make rider connections with the Salt Lake City International Airport more convenient by avoiding the need to park at the airport. The program allows UTA patrons to park for an "unlimited amount of time" in the designated Park and Ride lots. In addition, UTA will allow free parking in all of its parking garages. Previous UTA policy limited parking to no more than 24 hours, except at its parking garages. As part of the year long pilot program, "UTA will measure parking lot usage and monitor costs, maintenance requirements, impacts to snow removal and security issues before determining if the program will be extended." There are eight Park and Ride lots that are excluded from this test program and the 24 hour time limit will still apply to these lots. While North Temple Bridge/Guadalupe Station's (future) lot was not specifically identified as be excluded in this test program, as the lot was not open at the time, it was not included either.[2]
