Anthony Armstrong Emery is a British real estate entrepreneur based in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.[2] He is the founder and CEO of EcoHouse Group, a multinational real estate company specialising in the construction of social housing under the Brazilian government's Minha Casa, Minha Vida programme.[3]

In 2012, Armstrong Emery became the first foreign President of a Brazilian football club by taking charge of Alecrim FC.[4]

Early life

Growing up in London, Anthony Armstrong Emery learnt to speak a number of languages at a young age.[2] He would travel to Brazil frequently with his grandfather, who was director of a company that controlled telecommunications in the country.[2]

Armstrong Emery graduated in Law from the University of Nottingham and obtained a master's degree in Fiscal Law from the University of Salamanca, but claims never to have had any interest in entering the legal profession.[2] After completing his master's degree in Spain, he briefly moved to Paraguay due to his 'childish curiosity' brought about from reading spy novels.[4]

Business career

After many years working in the tourism industry in the South of Brazil,[2] Anthony Armstrong Emery returned to Spain where he sold real estate to expats before the start of the property boom.[4]

In 2004, Armstrong Emery left Spain and started land banking in Brazil, and in 2009, after the launch of Minha Casa, Minha Vida, he created EcoHouse Group.[4]

EcoHouse Group

EcoHouse Group is based in Natal and has offices in London, Singapore, Dubai, Sao Paulo and Toronto.[3] It has over 1000 employees and is currently the only UK company authorised to build developments under Minha Casa, Minha Vida.[3]

In November 2013, legal action is being taken by investors in Singapore against the company for failing to return investment money on time. [5]

MAIS RN

In April 2013, Armstrong Emery was invited by the state secretary of development to participate in MAIS RN,[6] a partnership between the Rio Grande do Norte state government and the private sector, which will conduct a full evaluation of the economy, production techniques and infrastructure needs of Rio Grande do Norte.[7]
