Brünjes was born in Norwich on 15 October 1954.[1] He was educated at Bedford Modern School, St Thomas's Hospital Medical School and Guy’s Hospital Medical School.[1]

In 1995, Brünjes founded the Premier Medical Group becoming Chairman in 2007. The business was sold in 2010 to Capita for £60 million.[2][3]
