Dacia Vasile Alecsandri Galaţi (Dacia VA Galaţi) or simple DVA Galaţi was a Romanian football club based in Galaţi. He took part in the finals three times to the Romanian Football Championship and stood in the quarterfinals to the Romanian Cup.

The team of the team was inspired from the famous writer with the same name, Vasile Alecsandri.

History

Dacia Vasile Alecsandri Galaţi (DVA) was founded in 1922 when the two clubs Soimii Dacia (named after the Roman province of Dacia) and Liceul Vasile Alecsandri (named after the poet Vasile Alecsandri) merged. The club was in the region for the first time Galaţi prevail in 1927 and qualify for the final round of the Romanian championship, but retired in the first game against Colţea Braşov. A year later, the same fate befell him against Olympia Bucharest. In the third part in 1929, the team managed to prevail in the first round against Victoria Iaşi and the quarter-finals. There, the club Dragoş Vodă Cernăuţi was defeated with 0:1.

In the following years, DVA could not prevail in the regional qualifying and was not taken into account when establishing the Divizia A in 1932. It was only with the introduction of Divizia B two years later, the association took part in the national leagues operation. He played until the cessation of gaming operations due to the World War II in 1941. He scored the biggest success in the 1938-39 season, when he reached the second place in the group North East.

Greater success as in the League celebrated DVA in Romanian Cup. There, the club moved twice into the first knockout round. In the 1935-36 season he left there against Gloria Arad with 0-6, in the season 1938-39 he was defeated by eventual winners FC Rapid București with the same results, having previously prevailed against the first division club Victoria Cluj.

After World War II, DVA Galati played in Galati county championship and to disappear definitively in 1950. [1] [2]
