The Pondicherry shark, Carcharhinus hemiodon, is a requiem shark of the family Carcharhinidae, found in the Indo-West Pacific Ocean between latitudes 25° N and 13° S. Its length is up to about 2 m.
The Pondicherry shark is a little-known shark found on the continental and insular shelves. Reports from river mouths and rivers are based on old records that need verification. It probably feeds on small fishes, cephalopods, and crustaceans. Reproduction is viviparous. It is utilized fresh for human consumption.
Coloration is grey above, white below, with the tips of the pectorals, and upper and lower caudal fin lobes black, the other fins dusky.
