Based on several sections [[WP:NOT|What Wikipedia Is Not]], it is generally agreed that topics in most areas must have a certain notability in order to have an article in Wikipedia.

Several guidelines have been created, or are under discussion, to indicate what is and is not notable.

Articles on non-notable subjects are frequently nominated for [[WP:PROD|Proposed Deletion]] and [[WP:AFD|Articles for Deletion]], and are frequently deleted via those processes.
