Discussion

Mind clarifying little bit about: "Interwiki (mainly)"? What other functions have you planned for the bot? --WinHunter (talk) 08:02, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to assume you are not familiar with these types of bots. These interwiki bots based on the pywikipedia framework basically add interwiki links (links to other language pages). These are useful for connecting the various languages together. They are *extremely* common, and usually get speedy approval. -- RM 12:51, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I’m making a move to deny this request the user gives eight bot accounts. Of those eight accounts two don’t exist and of the remaining bots the total edit count for six bots id only 878 edits, this to me shows that yes this user has other accounts I do not believe that they are established with an average edit for each account is ~146.333 those just don’t tend to show experience. As for the users actual edit count for two sits the total is 3779. With a total of 4657 edits for all of the listed links. Given the limited edits on other wikis that have bot accounts and the fact that that most of those are extremely new I have to oppose this bot. I believe that this user is too in experienced and has an elevated risk of bot malfunctioning or abuse. Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 09:29, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I will not second this motion. 3,779 is a lot of edits. The fact is that his various bots do limited work on the order of a few hundreds of interwiki links, and I don't have a problem with that. These interwiki link bots are standardized and simple, so there is relatively little risk here. There are probably more of these types of bots than any other. I move to speedily approve this request without trial, under previous precedent. Otherwise, you should just block the bot, because it is active BEFORE approval anyway, as are most of these types of applications. We obviously need more members of the approval group weighing in here. The fact that the request was posted here shows good faith. -- RM 12:51, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I need a little more info on exactly what the bot does - the bot's user page tells me nothing about it - it's hard to approve something if I don't know what it's going to do (interwiki is too vague) -- Tawker 12:53, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I add my command list above. :) -- WonYong(Talk / Contrib) 15:39, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
