LiAngelo Ball (born November 24, 1998) is an American high school basketball player for Chino Hills. He is a shooting guard but also has the height and body to be a small forward. Ball committed to play for the UCLA Bruins beginning in 2017.. As of now, he is a 3-star recruit by ESPN.
Early life
Ball was born in Chino Hills to Lavar and Tina Ball. LaVar, who stands 6-foot-6 (1.98 m), competed with Washington State and then Cal State Los Angeles. Tina, who stands 6-feet (1.8 m), also played with the latter school. Later on, LaVar played professional American football as a tight end for the London Monarch of the World League of American Football after being loaned from the New York Jets.
LiAngelo grew up playing basketball with Lonzo and then younger brother, LaMelo, later joined. Growing up, the trio played on teams coached by their father, including Big Ballers VXT of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), where they would continue playing into high school.
High School Career
Ball joined the Huskies as a freshman in 2013 to play alongside his brother Lonzo. Where eventually the youngest brother, LaMelo, would join to make Chino Hills High School one of the best high school basketball teams in the nation and eventually winning the state championship in 2016 vs De La Salle High School. As a junior, Ball averaged 27.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in the 2015-2016 season. After Lonzo left to play in UCLA, it was up to LiAngelo and LaMelo to continue the winning streak alive for the Huskies. They were able to keep the streak up to 60 wins until they lost to Oak Hill High School 95-91. This was a game were LiAngelo was limited and not able to perform well due to a sprained ankle suffered in a past game. On April 21, 2015, LiAngelo committed to play for the UCLA Bruins beginning in the 2017-2018 season when he graduates. This made him the second Ball brother to commit for UCLA.
