Template:Sharksportal The blackfin gulper shark, Centrophorus isodon, is a dogfish of the family Centrophoridae.
Physical characteristics
The blackfin gulper shark is a distinctive species, with a black mouth and tongue, blackish grey dorsally with dusky anterior margins to the second dorsal fin and upper caudal fin lobe. It has relatively small gill slits, large second dorsal fin, almost as high as the first, pectoral inner margin elongated, reaching to about mid base of first dorsal fin, trunk denticles not overlapping. The upper teeth are similar to the lower, only slightly smaller, also with a strongly oblique cusp.
Distribution
Northwest Pacific, the Xisha (Paracel) Islands and off the Zujiang River mouth, Hong Kong.
Habits and habitat
A rare, little-known deepwater dogfish.
