Template:Sharksportal The dark shyshark, Haploblepharus pictus, is a cat shark of the family Scyliorhinidae found from Namibia to southwestern Cape Province of South Africa between latitudes 29° S and 36° S. Its length is up to 57 cm.
The dark shyshark inhabits the continental shelf, in inshore waters, most common in shallow sandy areas. It feeds on small bottom-dwelling fish, crustaceans, and cephalopods. It is caught by shore anglers.
Coloration is dark markings with large light spots without black edges on a yellowish-brown body and on the fins, body also with 7 dark brown or blackish dorsal saddles.
Reproduction is oviparous.
