This page describes a brief (< 1 year) previous and currently defunct incarnation of a newly renovated, functioning space with different owners, purpose, etc. The old page is for a business that is no more and was shut down by the City of Los Angeles.

|concern = This is a defunct venue that was in operation for less than a year. The property has new owners and is a wedding/party/conference/event space that has been completely renovated. There is no more 'The Church on York' -- the property is now called 'The York Manor'. As it is a designated historical landmark I might also suggest renaming/moving the article under the headline of 'The York Manor' with a paragraph about its brief history as an unpermitted music performance venue.

The Church on York was a performing arts venue and historic site in Highland Park, Los Angeles, California. The site dates back to 1913 and originally housed a Methodist congregation. The building's architects were Robert Train and Edmund Williams. In 1936, the site became the "York Boulevard Church of Christ." The building was left empty in the late 1990s/early 2000s and acquired damage from disuse. In 2013, Graeme Flegenheimer, son of Eric Flegenheimer of The Net Result, leased the building and renovated it to become The Church on York Performing Arts Space. The building has been nominated for historical monument status by Charles J. Fisher and Flegenheimer has been working to preserve the building with the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council, the Council District 14 office, Occidental College and the Highland Park Chamber of Commerce. After renovation, The Church on York opened its doors and began hosting concerts in November 2013. The venue was forced to shut down in May 2014 due to noise complaints, lack of permits, and underage drinking.

The York Manor is a private event space, wedding venue, production rental facility and a historic site in Highland Park, Los Angeles, California. The building's architects were Robert Train and Edmund Williams, and it opened in 1913, originally housing a Methodist congregation. In 1936, the site became the "York Boulevard Church of Christ." The building was left empty in the late 1990s/early 2000s and acquired damage from disuse. In 2013 the building was leased by a music promoter and renovated to become The Church on York Performing Arts Space. The venue was forced to shut down in May 2014 due to noise complaints, lack of permits, and underage drinking.[1]

In 2014, the Cultural Heritage Commission of Los Angeles named The York Manor as an official historical landmark. The building was acquired by Extraordinary Living – A Real Estate Collective, who found it to be "in an extremely neglected condition and needed a complete overhaul."[2] The entire building underwent a full-scale renovation which provided modern conveniences while preserving historical details and fixtures[3], and reopened as The York Manor in the fall of 2015. The facility is now used for a variety of private functions including weddings, receptions, parties, anniversaries, baby showers, photo shoots, conferences, workshops, 501(c)(3) fundraisers, etc.
