As you can see, you see a map plus the german and polish name of the city. The page itself is a very very good Genwiki, that uses the official sources from the time before and after 1945.

Revision as of 14:58, 9 October 2017

From Germany, specialized in the former German Territorites and its German names.

Sources: 1. Gemeindeverzeichnis, Groß Deutsches Reich 1944

2. gov.genealogy.net;

3.www.verwaltungsgeschichte.de (German);

4. www.westpreußen.de (German, especially for westprussia)

I do not use the sources for the german city names in every page of wikipedia because it is not common to show the source for city names that are open for everyone in the internet, are very well-known and easy to find. And I think to put the source for the name in each and every page would be too much and I am not writing any text.

The sources i mentioned here, are the ones I am using. But to show the seriousnes of these sources, here an example.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czarnowo,_Lubusz_Voivodeship was a german city until 1945, called Neuendorf my source is this page: http://gov.genealogy.net/item/show/NEUORFJO72LA As you can see, you see a map plus the german and polish name of the city. The page itself is a very very good Genwiki, that uses the official sources from the time before and after 1945.
