== Personal life ==
May Matar was born in North Lebanon on October 8, 1987, has a bachelor degree in Cinematography and a masters degree in Film Studies, and she is known among the few artists who writes and composes their own songs.

Matar married former Basketball player George Badawi in September 7, 2013 and gave birth to twins who were both shown in her music video ''Alba Lal Mama''. On May 8, 2017, Matar lost her husband George due to pulmonary embolism. The news made headlines and was a true shocking tragedy.

Shortly after the release of her second hit single ''Eh Garali'', the song reached number one in the Lebanese charts and later became part of [[Melody]]'s top twenty. <ref>https://www.last.fm/music/May+Matar/+wiki</ref>. Her third single ''Ma Fi Hada'', written by Nizar Francis and composed by Samir Sfeir reached success as well.
Matar collaborated with the popular Lebanese songwriter Haitham Zayyad to finalize her fourth hit single ''Bahebak Aktar''.

Throughout her career, Matar worked with many famous directors: Adel Sarhan, Bassem Moghniyye, Ziad Najjar, with famous actors: Majdi Mashmoushi, Wissam Sabbagh, and with famous composers and songwriters like: Nizar Francis, Samir Sfeir, Haytham Zayad and Toni Abi Karam.
