A Game Camera is a surveillance camera with PIR (Passive Infrared Sensor) motion detector. Compared to other surveillance cameras, the game cameras have additional independence from the power grid. Game Cameras are compact in size and feature good weather resistance, making it perfect a camera for outdoor surveillance use. Hunters and Outdoorsman use trail cameras to find out what kind of game might be moving in their hunting area and the animal tendencies at certain times of the day. The most important features of game cameras are small size, discreetness and long operating times with Alkaline batteries or external battery.

There are different types of camera flash emitted from game cameras. The least invasive and undetectable is the Invisible Black flash which will illuminate night time pictures and video clips without alerting the animal or person. Daytime pictures and videos are captured in normal high resolution colors.

The latest wireless game camera models are able to send high quality pictures or video clips directly to a mobile phone or wirelessly to a PC. Wireless LTE (4G) cameras are sending captured image or video files to Cloud service based platforms. Cloud services are viewable with a home PC as a WebPortal or via a mobile phone APP.

Game cameras are often used as a security camera for monitoring vandalism, trespassing, theft or burglary in homes, offices, warehouse and private property. Game cameras act as an unobtrusive surveillance camera that automatically captures images or videos from a target that has been detected within the cameras field of view. Check your local laws and know how and where it can be used before activating a game camera.[1][2]
