Li Shurui

Li Shurui is a Beijing-based artist known for her series of paintings “Lights” [1]. Her works include painting, installation and sculpture,[2] of which her paintings and installations recognizable for large-format acrylic-on-canvas compositions produced with airbrushes[3]. Li has exhibited internationally, from the San Antonia Museum of Art in San Francisco to the PAC Museum of Contemporary Art in Milan, Italy. Her works are also part of the Estrella Collection.[4] Li was also praised by the New York Times and International Herald Tribune as a “leading emerging female artist”.[4]

Biography

She was born in 1981 in Chongqing, China and she graduated from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Chongqing in 2004.[5]

Works

Since 2005, Li started creating her series on “Lights”—large-scale airbrush acrylic paintings that would give the audience optical illusions.
