Geekshow Podcast is a multiple award winning weekly podcast published by the Broadway Media group.[1] Their site describes it as:

"A show about all things geek: comics, movies, TV, toys, role-playing games, video games, etc. The podcast is recorded complete with alcoholic beverages, and new episodes are released every Monday afternoon...."

History

The Geekshow Podcast began as a feature on popular Salt Lake City morning show Radio from Hell on x96[2]. The segment was largely employed when hosts Bill Allred and/or Gina Barberi had to be gone from the show for a day. It made its first appearance on Radio from Hell in 1996, when it was called "Geek Chat" Geekshow can be found on Facebook[3] and Twitter.[4]

Panelists

Sometimes called "The Admiral", Jackson has hosted Geekshow since its inception. He credits the move to a regular podcast format to his wife Sue. He can be heard weekday mornings on X96[5]. Kerry has been in the radio business for over 30 years. [6].

Shannon Barnson

Also known variously as Mr. B, Utah's Worst and Barndogg, Shannon jokes that he works at the 7-eleven on 13th south but he is actually a 4th grade teacher[7]. Shannon is one of the panelists with the longest tenure on the show. He is one of the panels DC fans and especially loves Superman.

Leigh George Kade

Jimmy Martin

Jimmy Martin is a film critic, entertainment reporter, and filmmaker. With a background in award-winning filmmaking, he provides an educated approach for multiple outlets including KSL[10] (NBC), Geek Show, Big Movie Mouth-Off[11], SLUG Magazine[12], KRSP (103.5FM The Arrow) and The Mediocre Show.[13]. In 2012, Martin was "the youngest critic to hold the position of President of the Utah Film Critics Association." [14] Jimmy is a devoted fan of the Back to the Future franchise and has a tattoo of the flux capacitor on his calf.

Tony Eccles

Also called "Triple T", "Quad T" or "Too Tall Tony", Eccles is described as the producer and designated driver of the podcast. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Tony does not participate in the alcohol which accompanies recordings of the podcast, preferring Mountain Dew, various energy drinks and candies such as Jelly Belly jellybeans. Tony is the panel expert on video and pc gaming. He is also a devoted Green Arrow fan.

Jay Whittaker

Jay Whittaker is an award-winning standup comedian, promising actor[15], avid birdwatcher and adequate human being. Jay is currently touring the United States as one of the featured comedians on the Dry Bar Comedy Tour[16] and headlining clubs around the country. You may already know Jay from his appearances on the Disney Channel[17], Dry Bar Comedy[18], Lifetime Channel and Food Network.

Jeff Michael Vice

Jeff was a well-known and long time local film critic and the "the encyclopedia of geek information on the show."[19] He worked his way from reporter to film critic at the Deseret News.[20] Vice spent a total of 21 years at the Deseret News, working at the newspaper from 1989 until being laid off in 2010[21]. Jeff brought a lot of love and happiness to the world, we will all miss him terribly."- Geekshow Podcast[22]

Scott Pierce

Scott is a reporter for the Salt Lake Tribune who joining the staff in 2010[23]. He covers television for both the features and sports departments, contributing columns as well as a variety of other stories. Scott has covered TV in Utah since 1990, and is a former president of the national Television Critics Association.
