Barbara Parsons, known professionally as Barbie The Welder[1] is an American metal sculptor[2] best known for her Gothic and creature designs, author, and entrepreneur.[3]

Biography

In 2007, after seeing the woman welding the angel wing sculpture in the movie Cast Away starring Tom Hanks, Barbie The Welder saved for 9 monthes to get the $1,200 she needed to attend a local 6 month BOCES welding program.[4] After school she was hired at Cameron Manufacturing and Design where she worked for as a sheet metal fabricator. After working for five years to learn the art of welding and fabrication and earning her Journeyman in sheet metal and iron plate, Barbie quit her job September 1, 2014 to pursue her greatest passion, metal sculpture.[5] Although Barbie had extensive training from fellow welders and fabricators at the company she worked for, her art is completely self-taught.[6] With her unparalleled sculpture design and artistry Barbie has quickly become a world-renowned metal sculptor[7] and has created sculptures for exclusive clients in thirteen different countries.[8] Not only does Barbie love to create she also loves teaching. Her YouTube channel, BarbieTheWelder, which is viewed by subscribers in 53 countries, is a wealth of information for artists and entrepreneurs alike. In Barbie’s easy-going style she shares step by step videos on how to create a wide variety of metal sculptures and sound entrepreneur advice. Barbie lives in Erin, NY where she continues to pursue her greatest passion, pouring her heart and soul into the metal that she forms into one of a kind sculptures for her clients all over the world! [9]
