Early life

He was born in Sonora, California[4] to parents Gary and Joyce Pfeiffer, and was one of five children growing up.[5]  Josh credits his parents as being two of the most influential people in his musical development.[6] His father Gary was involved in the Christian music industry for many years[7] and is known for writing the Christian camp/folk song ‘It’s A Happy Day’ [8]arranged by Barry McGuire and featured on the Agapeland album by the Dove Award winning [9] group Candle.[10] His mother Joyce was a voice and piano teacher. He attended Summerville High School where he was active in the music program, including the original Jazz@8 Choir. He went on to receive Outstanding Musicianship Awards at the Santa Cruz Jazz Festival, Redding Jazz Festival, and Fullerton Jazz Festival. Pfeiffer received a number of music scholarships after graduating.[7]

Career

In 2010, Josh made his debut with American Crooner Act:1, a jazz music album, featuring cover versions of Big Band standards as well as original compositions, Life, Beautiful Girl, California Days, When I'm With You, and Where I Want To Be. The album features the late Tower Of Power founding member and trumpet player Mic Gillette,[1] as well as pianist Kent Gripenstraw.[11] In 2016, Pfeiffer released the music video for his single Life, which was directed by five time Emmy Award winner Alejandro Guimoye.[12] The video is dedicated to his late parents, and features his daughter, Tamara Pfeiffer.[2][13] His single Life reached the Top 10 on the iTunes UK singer songwriter chart, and held a spot in the Top 40 for the final week of February. On February 25, 2018, the single peaked at #6 On iTunes UK Chart.[14][15] In late 2017, Pfeiffer released his single and music video entitled Brand New Shoes, written and co-produced by David Schram, and mixed by Grammy Award winner, Joe Chiccarelli.[16][1] His single 'Brand New Shoes went viral on Internet and received millions of views on YouTube.[17]The single reached the Canadian iTunes Charts peaking at #63 [18]on the main chart and #15 on the pop chart April 15, 2018[19]The single and music video both received consideration for the 2019 Grammy Awards.[20] On November 17, 2018, Pfeiffer released the single and music video One More Time.[21] It is the artists first release in the country music genre.[22] The song peaked at #1 on the UK iTunes Country Music Chart in January 2019,[23] and #38 on the UK iTunes overall chart January 1, 2019.[24][25] The single also reached #57 on the British Official Charts Sales Top 100,[26] the week ending January 3, 2019.[27]

Philanthropy

In 2013, Pfeiffer worked with the American Cancer Society, Habitat For Humanity, and the American Red Cross to raise funds and awareness for each of the organizations, through a performance at the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto, California.[3] In 2017, Josh Pfeiffer re-released his single Life in the Pop genre, and donated six months of profits from the single and music video to the victims of the Northern California wildfires.[2][28] In 2019, Pfeiffer joined in the Parkinson’s Foundation’s worldwide campaign #startaconversation to raise funds and awareness through a performance at the historic Sonora Opera Hall,[29] headlining the event titled 'Saluti' Cheers To Hope.[30]
