Techpreneurs Awards for Women

The Techpreneurs Awards for Women is an annual award celebrating women entrepreneurs in technology. It not only aims at getting more women into tech jobs in a very male dominated industry, but goes a step further to encourage women to start their own tech businesses.[1]

History

The Techpreneurs Awards for Women were created in 2014 by Fiona Scott Lazareff, techpreneur and founder of Divento.com.[2][3]It was launched at the University Women's Club in London on 26th June 2014. In 2018, the awards became a yearly event, taking place in late January/ early February, with 2019 marking the fourth edition of the award, hosted at the House of Lords by invitation of Lord Marks of Henley-on-Thames.

Selection Process

The Awards are open to women entrepreneurs in technology. Applicants send through an application and a panel of judges select the best business plans. The finalists are then invited to present their project in a 3mn live pitch during the awards ceremony. The judges and the public select a Conceptual winner and a Veteran winner on the night.
