Powelliphanta gilliesi montana is a terrestrial mollusc in the family Rhytididae, endemic to the South Island of New Zealand. It is found on the Wakamarama Range, in the West Nelson area, around tussock clumps.
This species is similar to other subspecies, but the whorls are more inflated, more tightly coiled, the spire more depressed, and the umbilicus narrower and steeper sided.
The shell has a finely granulated parietal callus (thickened calcareous deposit on the upper part of the inside wall of the aperture).
Major diameter is up to 52 mm, and height up to 28 mm.
