Glycimeris shell is a type of shell which is found in the Gulf of California (aka, the Sea of Cortez). It is a type of bivalve.

Archaeological significance in the American Southwest

The Glycimeris shell was used in trade item production by the Hohokam of Southwestern America. It was primarily made into bracelets and rings, as the center of the shell was generally removed immediately after collection, and before transport back to the Hohokam villages in the Gila Basin.

There are several scholarly journals which have articles dealing with shell trade in the American Southwest which mention the Glycimeris shell.
