Creation
The character of Jack and movie- Titanic were created by James Cameron, who has long had a fascination with shipwrecks, and for him the RMS Titanic was "the Mount Everest of shipwrecks"

DiCaprio was reluctant to play the role of Jack in the beginning. Cameroon had to convince him on the importance his role had on the movie, and how he was the perfect person to act the role.

Early Life
Jack Dawson was born near Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, in 1892, in a middle-class family. After the death of his parents in fire, when he was 15, he moved away from home. Due to his economic difficulties, his life was spent in poverty and misery, and he spent most nights on roadsides and under bridges, as he was homeless.

Life on Titanic
Jack won his tickets to travel in titanic, in a poker game, where he and his friend Fabrizio De Rossi, won it from a Swedish man. He entered Titanic on April 12 1912, as a Third-class passenger. He begins to enjoy his initial time in Titanic, and spent most of time in drawing potraits of fellow passenger. One night, he finds a beautiful woman, Rose DeWitt Bukater, trying to commit suicide as she was forcefully being married to businessman Caledon Hockley. Jack successfully manages to save her from jumping, and is given a chance to join the First-class passengers for supper. Rose discusses her problems with Jack, who maintains a moderate attitude towards her situation. Molly Brown, a kind and rich lady, helps Jack prepare for supper, by giving him a suit, and advising him on how to behave. After having a boring time in supper, Jack takes Rose to the Third-class supper area, where they both enjoy thoroughly. The next day, he meets Rose at the bow of the ship, where they exchange their first kiss. Rose asks Jack to draw her nude picture, wearing the necklace - the Heart of the Ocean, after seeing his drawings. After spending the night together, Rose informs Jack that on reaching America, she was going to join him, rather than going with a family. At this moment, they view an iceberg crashing on the ship, and run back to the First-class area to inform the others. Hockley, on the other hand traps Jack and gets him arrested by planting the necklace in his pocket. Jack is taken to the lower floors, where he is handcuffed to a pole in a room. As water begins to flood in, people begin to panic. Rose manages to find her way to Jack and rescues him. After refusing to go without Jack, the couple are left back, after all the life-boats left. Jack helps Rose up a wooden-piece after the ship sinks, keeping her away from the cold water, as he stays in it. After the lifeboats return, Rose finds Jack to be dead. She emotionally decides to live her life happily as Jack wanted her to do.
