InscriptiFact is computer software for the digital preservation and communication of ancient inscriptions.[1] These inscriptions may be from a variety of physical artifacts, including cave walls, paper scrolls, stone tablets, or clay shards.[1][2]

One of InscriptiFact's important features is the ability to adjust the light angle and intensity, which can reveal subtle features of the artifacts under scrutiny.[2][1]

InscriptiFact pioneered the use of Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI), a technology for recording surface textures of 3 dimensional models which was developed by Hewlett-Packard. This technology is particularly critical for documenting objects.[3]
