Their submission guide for freelance writers makes me think their editorial policy are pretty decent. It also looks like the author joined the staff as an editor shortly before writing the piece. || Maybe, it's not a full profile piece in the NYT, but it's not bad.

There is a byline, but there isn't any information about the author other than their name. Googling the name along with the name of the publication brings up the person's instagram, which says he is a [[WP:CONTRIBUTOR|contributor]] not a staff member. || Maybe, but likely not reliable.
