Welcome to Files for Upload, part of WikiProject Articles for creation. This process was created to allow unregistered users to add new files to Wikipedia with the assistance of experienced Wikipedians. If you would like to upload an image yourself, you can create an account and after four days and 10 edits you will be autoconfirmed and able to upload files. However, please consider uploading free files over at the Wikimedia Commons (instructions for creating an account there can be found here).

Reviewing requests

If you are an experienced editor, then you can help out by reviewing requests. Make sure you're familiar with Wikipedia's policies on non-free content (or simplified version). Learn about Wikipedia's various copyright tags. Read the guide on how to review file upload requests. Note that this page's editnotice contains an expandable cheat sheet with all the templates used in reviewing requests. After uploading the file tag its talk page with {{subst:WPAFCF}}. Remember to subst all templates. Notify the requester at their talk page using {{subst:ffu talk}} ~~~~ whenever you act on their request. You are responsible for anything you upload, so make sure you are comfortable that the file satisfies Wikipedia's policies first. If the file is non-free, then you must insert the file in the appropriate article right away in order to comply with the non-free content criteria.

Hi Mdaniels5757, the fullsize image is already used on the article A_Surge_of_Power_(Jen_Reid)_2020, however unfortunately because of the oddities of UK copyright law, there is a deletion request due to the vague defintion around "permanently situated" statues, see https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:A_Surge_of_Power_(Jen_Reid)_15th_July_2020.jpg someone mentioned uploading via this with a smaller/cropped version with justification for fair use. @AlexJRichards: Wikipedia’s non-free content use policy is much more restrictive than the concept of fair use. So, any photo of the statue uploaded locally under a license of {{Non-free 3D art}} would almost certainly be only considered acceptable to use in A Surge of Power (Jen Reid) 2020 per item 6 of WP:NFC#UUI. Trying to use the file in other articles which mention the sculpture as part of a discussion about a “current event“ most likely wouldn’t be considered policy compliant. Before anyone uploads such a file as non-free, I think it should be clarified as to exactly which article or articles the file is going to be used in and how the use is justified per relevant policy. — Marchjuly (talk) 22:13, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

  Gpkp, the blocker of this request is that the pictures on Flickr are marked as all rights reserved. I am not sure whether they are actually PD or not. It could also just be forgetting to mark the picture as PD. ~ Ase1este_{charge-parity}^time 14:21, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

• @Aseleste:; Even I am not sure. A valid VRIN no. and source is required (ex: dvidshub.net, defense.gov, af.mil etc.), which certainly cannot be the copyrighted one of Filckr. • Comment: I think this falls under Crown copyright, since the UK is not the US, and works produced by officials of the UK fall under Crown copyright. This being the work of the RAF, it should be such. As a WWII unit, it may have expired already, with the 50-year limit, unless it is considered unpublished before 1988 in which case it doesn't expire until 2040. Does the requestor know if this is considered published material? NOTE, this is not PD-author, it could be PD-old -- 65.93.183.33 (talk) 05:46, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

• @Asmaloney:; The logo which is available in the official website (https://hemospat.com) is eligible for upload. In the URL you have mentioned it as HemoSpat logo, but the logo in the official website is: this. Both logo icons are different, as you have mentioned that one of them is the application logo.
