Farouk Yahaya is appointed by the president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari as the new Nigerian Army's Chief of Army Staff on 27 May 2021[1][2] after the death of the former Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru who died in 2021 NAF Beechcraft King Air 350 plane crash near Kaduna International Airport.[3]

Major General Farouk Yahaya is a member of 37 Regular Course of the Nigerian Defense Academy Kaduna

Military career

Prior to his appointment as the Chief of Army Staff, Farouk was the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the Theatre Commander of the Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency military outfit in North Eastern part of Nigeria.[4]
