In February 2004 Edward Vick, established the Vick Foundation, which awards the Vick Prize.The founders of the Vick Foundation define its goal as follows: “To revive the interest of the Bulgarian reading public in Bulgarian literature, to encourage Bulgarian fiction-writers and unite literary circles”.His initiative was acclaimed by those who saw in the prize a new opportunity for the Bulgarian literature after almost 15 years of standstill.

Each year Vick Foundation awards the Vick prize for best bulgarian novel. The Vick Prize for novel represents the very best of Bulgarian contemporary works in the genre. A competent jury selects a short list of six Bulgarian novels from which the winner is chosen. The winning author receives a cash award of BGN 10,000, with the option of a free translation of the novel into English.There is also a competition for the most popular short-listed book, based on votes cast by the general public.

Vick prize purpose is to assist, develop and promote Bulgarian fiction inside and outside Bulgaria. The objective of its founder is to attract interest for works of contemporary Bulgarian writers.
