Saiyed Zegham Murtaza (Zaigham Murtaza सैयद ज़ैग़म मुर्तज़ा) (born 08 April 1980) is an Indian journalist, author, and social activist. He has worked with various media organizations, including Rajya Sabha Television, The Hindustan Times, Doordarshan, Eenadu Television, Asiaville News, and Tv9 Bharatvarsh. He is the founder of the news portal Views Wall. He has translated the Hindi version of Gautam Bhatia's Offend, Shock, or Disturb: Free Speech under the Indian Constitution for Oxford University Press. Also, he has scripted and produced various documentaries, and short films for various news channels and platforms, including Guests of Destiny, Sangharsh, Saviour of Kashmir: Rajinder Singh.


Early life and education

Saiyed Zegham Murtaza was born in Syed Nagli of Amroha District of Uttar Pradesh. His father Saiyed Ali Zafar was a trade unionist and a social activist. He belongs to the reputed family of Sayyids of Syed Nagli. His Grandfather Maulvi Murtaza Hussain was an ex-Armymen and a Freedom Fighter. One of his uncles Dr Naseem uz Zafar Baquiri is a renowned poet. He obtained his Higher Secondary Certificate for Meerut Public School, Meerut. He did his graduation from JS Hindu College Amroha and a PG Degree in Public Administration from Aligarh Muslim University. He did his Masters in Mass Communication from the Department of Journalism, AMU, Aligarh.

Personal life

Saiyed Zegham Murtaza has been quite vocal on Social Media. He is quite popular for his efforts on Islamic Reforms, [1], [2], [3], Political reforms and [4]. In June 2018, he got into the [5] with Rahul Mahajan, the then Editor in Cheif of Rajya Sabha Television over the issue of Urdu and Journalistic ethics. He was relieved from his job after the dispute.
