Simon Nelson-Cook, also known as Cookie (Daniel Curtis Lee) is a character on the Nickelodeon TV show Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide.

Sometimes called a "cyborg", Cookie is a self-acknowledged computer geek who always has some technological device (usually of his own design) with him, including a computer screen hooked to his glasses that pushes down on a hinge, a computer mouse in his pocket, and a computer printer in his pants (a "Pants Printer"). He has also invented a fair number of other gadgets, including the failed Crammaster Plus and, though not technology, the 'mop bucket slingshot'.

He is one of Ned's two best friends (Jennifer Mosely being his other) and is always with Ned (with the exception of the episodes 'Dodgeball' and 'Best Friends'). Cookie comes from a very rich family, although he tries to disguise it - he has a limousine drop him off at Ned's house every morning and then rides the bus to school from there. Because of this, cookie thinks very highly of himself and is, in his opinion "beautiful."

Cookie's inventions and technological know-how reflects his success in school, as he successfully wins the spelling bee and is deemed 'smartest kid in the school' in season three. In fact, the only grade lower than in A, in this case a B, he is shown to have is in Life Sciences with Ned. His academic success has lead the teachers to request he be promoted to higher grade levels twice in the series - the first to high school (which he refuses) and the second to the eigth grade math. He is also shown to have perfect attendance, something which was threatened twice in season 3.

Cookie's been known to adopt multiple identities for various occasions. He has dressed as a human cannonball (Super Cookie), a gangster (P-Cookie, a spoof of P-Diddy), a director, a sports agent, a life coach, a teacher, and a cheerleader. He has also been known to join clubs simply to meet girls. Some examples of this include trying out for the cheerleading squad and wanting to join Moze's book club. Several episodes have Cookie's antics as a sub-plot while Ned undergoes his own problems.

Relationships

  • Gordy - Cookie and Ned typically go to Gordy for 'man advice' when Moze's suggestions don't satisfy them. Cookie also enjoys digging through school walls with Gordy, intitially to form a quicker emergency exit, although Cookie later began doing it on his own for various reasons.
  • Coach Dirga - As his athletic abilities are mediocre at best, Cookie despises gym and goes as far as hiring Seth Powers to go to class for him. Because of this, Couch Dirga doesn't like Cookie, yet joined the other teachers in advising he go straight to high school despite his lackluster efforts in gym.
  • Lisa Zemo - Lisa has a crush on Cookie throughout the first two seasons, although Cookie showed no signs of liking her until season three, after seeing the 'new Lisa'.
  • Vanessa - Cookie wanted to date Vanessa, but she was an eighth grader, a year older than him. So, Cookie pretended to be an eigth grader, until he later revealed himself to be in seventh grade to Vanessa. The two end up dating, although Vanessa is only seen once more in the episode 'Science Fair', where she brings her grandmother to meet Cookie.
  • Evelyn Kwong - Cookie has an ongoing rivalry with Evelyn, competing with her for the title of smartest kid in school, something he is eventually successful at. He describes as being 'evil', calling her 'Evil-yn'. Although he shows a small amount of interest in her, he accidentally kissed her in the episode 'Dismissal'.In the episode Revenge tricks Cookie by telling him they are going to have a test which is one a different subject. After kisses Cookie and tells him she is a jerk. little did she know Cookie had a prank ready. He trys to stop her but can't and gets chased.
  • Albert Wormenheimer - Albert, under the pen name 'A.Worminator', secretly wrote a popularity list in the episode 'Popularity'. Cookie discovered his identity and convinced him to move the two of them up to the top ten most popular kids, which he does. Cookie and Albert later regret this decision, as they get 'sucked in' to the somewhat boring world of the popular kids.

Trivia

  • In the first season episode "Computer Labs" the name "Daniel Lee", the name of the actor who plays Cookie, is visible on the sign-up sheet.

  • Cookie has organized an after-school tour of Polk Middle School, showing students the 'wonders' of Polk after dismissal, such as Coach Dirga watching a soap opera and crying, something no one would expect her of doing. He even has created merchandise for the tour, such as t-shirts.
