== Speedy deletion nomination of The Original Hamburger Stand ==

Hello Fryboy Editor,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged [[The Original Hamburger Stand]] for deletion in response to your request.

If you didn't intend to make such a request and don't want the article to be deleted, you can <span class="plainlinks">'''[//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title={{urlencode:The Original Hamburger Stand}}&action=edit edit the page]'''</span> and remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on [[User_talk:John B123|my talk page]] if you have questions. Thanks!

Thanks for uploading or contributing to '''[[:File:Tuesday Morning logo.svg]]'''. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under [[WP:NFCC|non-free content criteria]], but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to [[:File:Tuesday Morning logo.svg|the file description page]], and edit it to include a [[Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline|non-free rationale]].

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. == Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution ==

[[Image:Information.svg|25px|alt=Information icon]] Thank you for [[Special:Contributions/Fryboy Editor|your contributions]] to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from [[:Dominator (ride)]] into [[:Rocket (Lagoon)]]. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, [[WP:Copyrights|Wikipedia's licensing]] does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an [[Help:Edit summary|edit summary]] at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and [[Help:Link#Wikilinks|linking]] to the copied page, e.g., <code>copied content from <nowiki>[[page name]]</nowiki>; see that page's history for attribution</code>. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{tl|copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at [[Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia]]. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-copying --> [[User:DanCherek|DanCherek]] ([[User talk:DanCherek|talk]]) 23:17, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
==[[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion|Speedy deletion]] nomination of [[:File:Rocket Lagoon.jpg]]==
[[File:Copyright-problem.svg|48px|left|alt=|link=]]

A tag has been placed on [[:File:Rocket Lagoon.jpg]] requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under [[WP:CSD#F9|section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion]], because the file appears to be a blatant [[Wikipedia:Copyright violations|copyright infringement]]&#32;of https://flickr.com/photos/edgarzuniga/3792281677. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators '''will be [[Wikipedia:Blocking policy|blocked from editing]]'''.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you ''must'' verify that externally by one of the processes explained at [[Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials]]. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see [[Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission]] for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at [[Wikipedia:Copyrights|Wikipedia's copyright policy]] for more details, or ask a question [[Wikipedia:Help desk|here]].

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may '''contest the nomination''' by [[:File:Rocket Lagoon.jpg|visiting the page]] and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with [[Wikipedia:List of policies|Wikipedia's policies and guidelines]]. <!-- Template:Db-imgcopyvio-notice --> <!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> [[User:Whpq|Whpq]] ([[User talk:Whpq|talk]]) 00:11, 29 December 2021 (UTC)

== Wikipedia and copyright ==

[[File:Control copyright icon.svg|30px|link=|alt=Control copyright icon]] Hello Fryboy Editor! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid [[copyright]] and [[plagiarism]] issues.

*You can only copy/translate a ''small'' amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double [[quotation mark]]s (") and cite the source using an [[WP:IC|inline citation]]. You can read about this at [[Wikipedia:Non-free content]] in the sections on "text". See also [[Help:Referencing for beginners]], for how to cite sources here.
*Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information ''in your own words and structure'', in proper [[paraphrase]]. Following the source's words too closely can create [[derivative work|copyright problems]], so it is not permitted here; see [[Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing]]. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to [[Wikipedia:Verifiability|verify]] the information and to demonstrate that the content is not [[Wikipedia:No original research|original research]].
*We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. [[Fair use]] images must meet all ten of the [[WP:NFCC|non-free content criteria]] in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
*If ''you'' own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you ''may'' be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, ''to the world'', into either the [[public domain]] (PD) or under a [[Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright#Can I add something to Wikipedia that I got from somewhere else?|suitably-free and compatible]] copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See [[Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials]].
*Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at [[Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia]]. See also [[Help:Translation#License requirements]].

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be [[Wikipedia:Blocking policy|blocked]] from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. <!-- Template:uw-copyright-new --> [[User:Whpq|Whpq]] ([[User talk:Whpq|talk]]) 00:12, 29 December 2021 (UTC)

For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. == Deletion discussion about [[Renfroe's Markets]] ==

Hello, Fryboy Editor, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username [[User:Meatsgains|Meatsgains]], and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, [[Renfroe's Markets]], should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at [[Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Renfroe's Markets]].

You might like to note that such [[WP:AFD|discussions]] usually run for seven days and are ''not'' ballot-polls. And, [[WP:DISCUSSAFD|our guide]] about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

== Do not revert users without explanation ==

Hello. Why, as you are an editor who primarily edits articles about amusement parks, food and supermarkets, are you editing an article like [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Oh_My_God_(Adele_song)&diff=1063777752&oldid=1063523525 Oh My God (Adele song) and reverting me without explanation]? Don't do this. It would make me think that you are the editor Spiceislandseabird editing under another account. The editor who introduced the edit was reverted per [[WP:BRD]], so the next step is to go to the article talk page and discuss the edit. If you do not understand that genres need to be described as more of an "influence" or "inspiration" to a song to be included in the infobox, you should not be reverting people over it. Notification of ANI discussion

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 03:22, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Fryboy Editor! Your additions to Big 5 Sporting Goods have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. rsjaffe 🗩 🖉 03:58, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain namespaces ((Article) and Draft) for copyright violations.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 04:03, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Fryboy Editor (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I am just trying to give articles a good history and everybody attacks me and it really just ticks me off. Do I write it in my own words? You never told me how I should update the history. This block is quite unfair. Wikipedia is my life and you guys trying to take it away breaks my heart. And IM NOT AUTOBLOCKED!

Decline reason:

In order to lift the block, we need to be certain that you understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. To allow the reviewing administrator to assess your understanding, please respond to the following questions in your next unblock appeal, explaining in your own words:

  • What is copyright?
  • How is Wikipedia licenced?
  • Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
  • Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
  • How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?

Your answers will enable us to establish whether or not you should be unblocked. Yamla (talk) 10:49, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You have received 1 2 3 4 5 6 warnings for copyright violations, with the sixth one being labeled a final warning. The above section regarding this edit to Big 5 Sporting Goods, where you added four paragraphs copied from https://www.big5sportinggoods.com/store/company/History, shows to me that you still do not have adequate understanding of copyright. Because of this, I am blocking you- I have no personal issue with you, it's just that my duty as an admin is to protect the encyclopedia from harmful edits. Yes, you need to write all content in your own words- you cannot copy from other websites, and if you copy between Wikipedia pages, you must make of note of it in the edit summary. If you want to be unblocked, you must commit to not copying from sources and commit to attributing when copying content between articles. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 04:22, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. rsjaffe 🗩 🖉 04:35, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fryboy Editor I promise I won't copyright anymore but how can I commit to attribute when I'm blocked? If you want you can unblock me right now and I'll just stick to updated or fixing infoboxes if that makes you happy.

I promise I won't copyright anymore... You'll have to be more specific in how you understand what you did is wrong and what you will differently going forward. When it comes to attributing content from another wikipedia article, add a note that reads like copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution in the edit summary when copying something over. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 05:03, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fryboy Editor I know what I did is wrong, and I won't do that anymore. I just like to edit/upgrade infoboxes. I won't copy stuff without a valid reason. I won't violate copyright anymore.

For reference:

  • You can almost never copy from anywhere online. This also applies to very slightly rewording what a source says (see the close paraphrasing guideline). This also applies to images. However, you must source your information using a citation (see referencing for beginners for help on that front).
  • The one main exception to this is copying from other Wikipedia articles, where you must attribute which article you copied the text from, usually in the edit summary or on the talk page using the {{Copied}} template.

By saying you will not violate copyrights, this is what you are agreeing to follow; this is what all Wikipedia editors must follow. If you need any help, you can send me a message on my talk page. Sorry if this comes across harshly – it's somewhat meant to, but I also do want to help you as much as I can. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 06:23, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fryboy Editor Yes, I agree I will follow all of the rules. I just want to be unblocked. Is that too much too ask? I feel like I've stated my reasoning. I'll just stick to editing infoboxes.

I would like to see you unblocked, I really would. But I'm still not sure if you know what you did wrong. It sounds like you're saying something to get out of this situation that you're still not sure you got into, if that makes sense. You'll need to be clearer about what you did wrong. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 06:59, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fryboy Editor I know what I did was wrong, and I know not to ever violate copyright and copy text without explaining why.

Fryboy Editor Fine. If you won't unblock me than I quit. Screw you all.
