Wanda Young Sankary (December 22, 1919 - September 2, 2005) was a lawyer in Los Angeles and San Diego who served as a state legislator in California. She was a Democrat. UCLA has a collection of her papers.[1] She was elected to the California Assembly in 1954 from San Diego. She lost her re-election campaign.[1]

She was born near Scranton, North Dakota.[2] She attended Herbert Hoover High School in San Diego, San Diego State College, University of California at Berkely, and UCLA Law School. She gave a tape recorded interview at UCLA, part of a series on women legislators, in 1977; it was made into a book with an introduction and biographical details and a photo with the title From Sod House to State House in 1979.[3]

She gave birth the night she was elected. She was married to Allen Young who died the next year. She married again to Morris Sankary in 1952. They divorced in 1972. She is quoted as saying, "There are approximately seven million women in California and I feel that as one of the three women legislators I should be concerned with the welfare of women." She had two sons.[2]
