Mewasi is a sub group of Bhil community which is settled in Rajasthan and Gujarat. According to the census report 1961 of the Government of India, the Mewasi is Bhi Subgroup of Bhil tribe[1].
As of 2001, the Mewasi Bhil were classified as a Scheduled Tribe under the Indian government's reservation program of positive discrimination.
