On August 1, 2023, KKHR (then licensed to Abilene on 106.3FM) dropped its 35-year plus hispanic format and began broadcasting a simulcast of variety hits sister station [[KTJK]] as "106.3 The Raider."
At midnight, August 1, 2023, the station began simulcasting on sister [[KKHR]] 106.3FM in preparation of a swap to that frequency, replacing the hispanic music format previously on KKHR.

On August 8, 2023, KKHR swapped calls with sister KTJK, permanently moving the company's flagship variety hits The Raider to the larger 106.3 signal and KKHR to 101.7, beginning a new format branded as "101.7 The Patriot." Following the swap, both signals continued broadcasting in HD Radio.
