In August 2023, clashes broke out in Tripoli, Libya. Fighting occurred between the Special Deterrence Force and the 444 Brigade, two of the strongest military forces in the city.[1] The fierce fighting erupted on 14 August until late on 15 August, which forced the city's main airport to close.[2] At least 55 people were reported dead.[3] They were the deadliest clashes in the country of the year.[4]
