D50 is the working title for an upcoming Indian Tamil-language gangster drama film written, directed and starred by Dhanush in his 50th film in the lead role.[1] It is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner Sun Pictures. The film also marks as Dhanush's second directional after Pa Paandi (2017).[2] The film also stars S. J. Suryah, Sundeep Kishan and Kalidas Jayaram.[3]

Development

Suryah.[5] Later on the same month, they officially announced only that Dhanush and Kalanithi Maran is collaborating for Dhanush's second directional under the tentative title D50, and not the cast.[6] Vishnu was doing a role in the film, but opted out due to schedule conflicts.[7] In June, Suryah was confirmed doing a role for the film.[8] Later on, Kalidas Jayaram was also confirmed after being reported to do a role.[9] In June, Amala Paul was reported to play a role in the film.[10]
Filming
Principal photography commenced on 5 July.[11]
Music
The music director for the film is yet-to-be revealed, but it is reported that A. R. Rahman will compose the music and background scores for the film. If true, the film will be the fourth collaboration with Rahman and Dhanush after Raanjhanaa (2013), Maryan (2013), and Atrangi Re (2021).[12]
