History

Then operating under the calls KTJK, the station began airing content under a new commercial license in late winter 2018, adopting its current variety hits format after a seasonal broadcast of all Christmas music.[1] The license and equipment was purchased in spring 2021 by WesTex Telco, and operated as variety hits 101.7 The Raider.[2]

On August 1, 2023, KKHR (then licensed to Abilene on 106.3FM) dropped its 35-year plus hispanic format and began broadcasting a simulcast of variety hits sister station KTJK as "106.3 The Raider."

On August 8, 2023, KKHR swapped calls with sister KTJK, permanently moving the company's flagship variety hits The Raider to the larger 106.3 signal and KKHR to 101.7, beginning a new format branded as "101.7 The Patriot." Following the swap, both signals continued broadcasting in HD Radio.

On September 1, 2023, the FCC granted new calls of KABT-FM to the frequency.
