Question from DeeplyMoved on Bonnie Raitt (08:47, 9 January 2024)

I want to edit personal data

How do I do it? --DeeplyMoved (talk) 08:47, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@DeeplyMoved: you can edit the page yourself, of course, and make the changes as long as you provide references for your changes (see this guide on referencing); but I'll be able to assist you better if you can explain exactly what you want to change. Update personal data

Hi, I hope you are doing well. A close relative has asked me to update her wikipedia site. I understand it could be cause to some trouble since we are related (totally understandable!). The question is: what is the proper way to update someone's information? Thanks! Martinrandall (talk) 12:43, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Martinrandall: as it turns out, I had mentioned the guidelines for conflict-of-interest editing in the welcome message I had left on your talk page three years back. You may want to first go through the links that are given in that message and familiarise yourself with the COI guidelines. Once that is done, use the {{edit COI}} template to make an edit request on the talk page of the page you want to have updated. Specify explicitly what changes you want to be made, and provide references for the same. Happy editing! JavaHurricane 03:38, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot! Martinrandall (talk) 14:32, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Syromalabarofficial (11:19, 10 January 2024)

I need to change my user name --Syromalabarofficial (talk) 11:19, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

(by talk reader) @Syromalabarofficial: Why? To hide your apparent conflict of interest? See WP:CHU. Chris Troutman (talk) 11:43, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Chris troutman Based on their edits, the username might imply they are an official from the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. Which would make the username against policy. Nobody (talk) 12:32, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct but I imagine that they are. User is neither blocked for username nor did they receive any warning on their user talk, so I worry that a username change will only obscure the un-announced conflict of interest. Chris Troutman (talk) 12:36, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They're already listed here, so an admin will probably take a look, sooner or later. Nobody (talk) 12:40, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, Robertsky has now softblocked the account. @Syromalabarofficial: you will find the instructions for changing your username in the block notice on your user talk page. JavaHurricane 03:40, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from BigDawgSpys83 on Conners Comprehensive Behaviour Rating Scale (05:20, 11 January 2024)

Hello I'm not going to bullshit I'm a noob lmao. What practices, workflow Automation and Security tips do you have if any? Thanks for your valuable info and then also the time you spent you'll never get back says a lot so you know . --BigDawgSpys83 (talk) 05:20, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@BigDawgSpys83: I'm not familiar with this area; I recommend asking at the reference desk. JavaHurricane 06:06, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
