The Zakaria family is an Indonesian political family that has long been prominent in Indonesian politics, theologism, education, public service, community health, and entertainment. It was founded by Zakaria bin Muhammad Amin in 1933 with most of their ancestors coming from Malaysia and Thailand, and a smaller number descending from the Arab.

Wives

Mariah binti Ahmad

Mariah binti Ahmad, the first wife of Zakaria, was born to Tuan Guru Haji Ahmad and Rohimah binti Haji Sani. The couple married in 1933. After the wedding, they moved to Bagan Datuk Perak. The couple had seven children: Nashruddin Zakaria, Aminah Zakaria, Zaharah Zakaria, Ulfah Zakaria, Azra'ie Zakaria, Hanim Zakaria, and Syakrani Zakaria.

Mariah supported her husband in fight during the Indonesian National Revolution, and later died on 2 February 1955 after suffering from illness.

Children

Zakaria fathered fourteen children from two marriages. His firstborn son, Nashruddin Zakaria, died in 1999 after a series of illness. His firstborn daughter, Aminah, died in 2011 from a heart failure. The Zakaria's surviving children include one son and two daughters from his first marriage, Syakrani, Ulfah, and Hanim Zakaria, and three sons and daughters from his second marriage, Zulkarnain, Nukman, Gamal Abdul Nasir, Rita Puspa, Nida Suryani and Sri Purnama Zakaria.

Nashruddin Zakaria

Nashruddin Zakaria was born on 10 April 1934 in British Malaya during his father Islamic study. He worked as a civil servant at Bengkalis Regency Religious Affairs Department Office and as preacher, and priest succeeded his father. Nashruddin was married to Nursiah binti Muhammad Yasin and has two sons, Muhammad Normayudin (b. 1970) and Hendrizon (b. 1979), and three daughters, Syamsidar (1962–2021), Yusraini (b. 1968), and Erma Ernawati (1976–2010). His only public appearance was in 1991 with Azuwar Anuwar when he gave an interview about his father's lifestory.

Zakaria bin Muhammad Amin was born in March 1913 in Bangkinang, Dutch East Indies, to Taraima and Muhammad Amin, whom both are a cloth trader from Kuok, a village in Kampar. Her father, Muhammad Amin, had a three brothers and two sisters: Sidik, Haji Kasim, Haji Amin, Intol Kulubi, and Intan Suri.
