Background
Nina Kahle hails from Motown, which is evidenced in the stylistic components of her music. Displaying influences that range from Smokey Robinson and Laura Nyro, to Joni Mitchell and lastly Rogers & Hammerstein, she evolved into her own unique expressive style culminating in her Lifesong Records release "Deep, Down and Real". Her album, recorded in 1977 at The Hit Factory[3]studio in New York with producers Cashman and West, was left unreleased to to conflicts between CBS and Lifesong Records.
What seemed like defeat took an unexpected turn when Nina was asked to sing for two television advertisements for Gillette's "Silkience"[4] hair-care line. The album and it's title track "Deep, Down and Real" was released in 1981 and used to promote their hair shampoo product. Reviews for the album were excellent and promising.
In 2024, Nina Kahle continues her artistic pursuits with additional recorded music.
