History[edit]

In 1988, Paul and Jill purchased a record store during a tax auction, located on Pearl St. in Denver.[3] The store had such low inventory, Paul had to use his own collection to meet business needs. With the store being 3,000 square feet and Compact discs becoming more and more popular, they kept up with the demand by ordering a diverse amount of music in every format.[4]

In 2006, with the size of customers and sales continuing to grow exponentially Twist & Shout moved to a new 11.000 square foot building.

In 2024, Twist & Shout was awarded "Best of Denver" award for Record Store.[5]
