Karishal Gabduldanovich Asanov (born March 12, 1933[1], Erkin (Talgar district), Almaty Region; died March 26, 2015[2], Almaty) a historian, writer, public figure, and dissident.

Biography

Karishal Gabduldanovich Asanov was born on March 12, 1933, in Erkin, Almaty Region. His father, Gabdolda Asanov, was the first chairman of the district council (1918–1927) in Taldykorgan. He was married to Nurilya Alimzhanova, and they had two children, Bolat Asanov and Kargash Asanova[3].

In 1957, graduated from the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University with a degree in history and philology[4].

For many years, Asanov was repeatedly prosecuted for his opposition activities.[5][6][7]

Awards
