The Union Church was constructed in 1958 by Rev. Louis W. West, a retired Baptist pastor from [[Boston, Massachusetts]]. The church could hold three occupants: a pastor and two parishioners. It is said that West performed ten marriages and one baptism in the church.<ref>{{cite book |last=Harnedy |first=Jim |author-link= |date=July 1996 |title=Around Wiscasset |url= |location= |publisher=Arcadia Publishing Incorporated |page= |isbn=9781439622070}}</ref> According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the church’s floor area measured 31 square feet (7 ft x 4.5 ft).<ref>{{cite book |last=McWhirter|first=Norris|date=January 1, 1980 |title=Guiness Book of World Records 1980 |url= |location= |publisher=Sterling Publishing Company |page=429 |isbn= 978-0806901688}}</ref> Sources say that the steeple had a golf ball placed atop it and that the church itself was never locked.<ref>[https://dl.atla.com/concern/works/1r66jj60h?locale=en atla Digital Library. Following Reverend West's passing in 1966, the church was maintained as a memorial to his service. Unfortunately, over the years, Union Church deteriorated, was vandalized and eventually demolished.<ref name=SPEEDWAY>{{cite news |last=Speedway |first=Wiscasset |date=April 22, 2024 |title=The story behind Wiscasset Speedway’s newest addition |url=https://wiscassetspeedway.com/2024/04/22/the-story-behind-wiscasset-speedways-newest-addition/ |work= |location= |access-date=May 4, 2024}}</ref> In April 2024, the Wiscasset Speedway erected an exact replica of the Union Church and dedicated it to Edna Verney, who (according to her granddaughter) was "fascinated by the church’s history and would visit it often with her children and friends."<ref name=SPEEDWAY/>
