After completing her studies at UCLA, Elmi joined T-Mobile, followed by AT&T, and later served as the director of marketing for the North-East region at Cricket Wireless. She was associated with Cricket Wellness until 2018.[1][4]
In 2018, along with her husband, Shahab Elmi, she co-founded the health supplement manufacturing company Cymbiotika.[1][5] Cymbiotika provides health supplements, combining modern scientific research and Eastern traditional medicine.[2][6] Prior to Cymbiotika, Elmi also co-founded several companies, including Dash Radio, Day Group, and Konplott, which were later sold.[4](2021), Elmi established a non-profit organization, Helping Hands for Afghans (HHFA).
