The Graphics Lab is a project to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. Requests for image improvements can be added to the workshop pages: Illustrations, Photographs and Maps. For questions or suggestions one can use the talk pages: Talk:Graphics Lab, Talk:Illustrations, Talk:Photographs and Talk:Maps.
This specific page is the requests page for the photography workshop. Anyone can make a request for a photograph to be improved for a Wikipedia article. The standard format for making a request is shown below, along with general advice, and should be followed.

Graphists and other visitors to the Graphics Lab may be interested in the RSS feed of changes to this page. You may find it here. |
Graphists, if you have completed work and have not received a reply from the requester, you may place the {{GL Photography reply}} template on their talk page. |
If you are looking for something to do, there are plenty of images with watermarks to be removed and files that need cleanup. See also our sister Photography workshop at Commons |

- Could you please remove the black frame from this painting? Thank you! -- Vinícius O. (talk) 17:24, 26 May 2024 (UTC)

Not done @Vinícius94: This is a very, very large file. To process it, a computer with a large operating memory and computing power is required. The task exceeds the capabilities of commonly used computers. PawełMM (talk) 10:02, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- @PawełMM: Yeah, that makes sense. Vinícius O. (talk) 19:24, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
Doing... It opened and cropped in seconds in Photoshop on my MacPro with 20GB ram. Photoshop is optimized for very large images. I'll upload soon. Zerotalk 04:21, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
Done To editor Vinícius94: I am unable to upload the cropped image on top of the old one. Even though there is a 5GB limit on copies from a select list of web sites (which is where this file came from), the limit for ordinary uploads is 100MB. This original file is 287MB and the cropped version is 205MB. Rather than overwriting the file with a reduced-res version, I created a new image at File:The Night Watch - cropped.jpg at half the resolution. It is still pretty big as far as Commons images go (28,302 × 23,662 pixels) and I have no objection if someone wants to load it on top of File:The Night Watch - HD.jpg. - @Zero0000: Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. Vinícius O. (talk) 20:02, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
