Revision as of 13:39, 16 April 2007
Lockdown is an annual professional wrestling pay-per-view event held by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling in the month of April. The first one, in 2005, used the revolutionary premise that all matches were to take place in the Six Sides of Steel, which is set to be the standard for future Lockdown pay-per-views. The event usually features not only steel cage matches, but also additional gimmicks added on to the steel cage stipulation. Trademark Lockdown specialty matches include the Lethal Lockdown and Xscape match.
The original premise was to have two quality cage matches to highlight the gimmick name "Lockdown"[citation needed], but TNA President Dixie Carter switched the format to an all-steel cage match show.
