Nootka Cypress

Xanthocyparis is the botanical name of a genus in the conifers. It was published in 2002 for a newly discovered Vietnamese tree. At the same time the wellknown Nootka cypress was included in this genus, boosting the number of species to two. As doubts were raised if the name Callitropsis might be the correct name to use in this case a proposal was published in 2006 to conserve the name Xanthocyparis. Until the relevant Committee decides on the case this name is to be used rather than Callitropsis, as indeed is done here.
