Xlibris is a Philadelphia-based self-publishing and on-demand printing services provider. As a vanity press[1] [2] Xlibris gives creative control and ownership rights to the author.

The name is a derivation of the Latin term ex libris which means "from the library of".

An early supporter of Xlibris and the industry in general is sci-fi author Piers Anthony[3]. In December 1997, he and his wife became a part of Xlibris as venture capitalists. Later Xlibris formed a partnership with Random House.
